Nancy L. Hamelink Obituary
Age 87 of Kalamazoo, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025. Nancy was born in Kalamazoo on May 22, 1937, the daughter of William and Gertrude (Cole) Zomer. On January 31, 1958, she married Richard A. Hamelink who preceded her in death in 2024.
Nancy worked in the automotive industry as a bookkeeper for various car dealerships. Dick and Nancy lived for over 20 years on Pine Lake, a place Nancy loved. They also liked camping, especially at Hoffmaster State Park.
She loved sports and they attended many WMU Bronco football games. She also was a fan of the Detroit Tigers. Nancy loved drive-ins, like West Lake Drive-in and The Root Beer Stand.
She also loved going to get some Plainwell Ice Cream. When watching television she liked watching The Young and the Restless. She also enjoyed shopping on the QVC channel.
Other frequent outings included visiting the local casinos where whether she won or lost, she always had a good time. Nancy loved singing and sang in the Sweet Adelines Mid-Lakes Chorus. She had a great sense of humor.
She loved laughing and making others laugh. Nancy devoted her life to caring for Dick in his latter years. She will always be remembered as being a loving wife, mother, grandma and sister.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Stan) Siwik of Kalamazoo; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Hamelink; grandchildren, Whitney, Steven, Erin, Jessica, Timothy, Kyle, Kimberly, Josh, Veronica, Carter and Drew; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Sam (Dawn) Zomer and John (Judi) Zomer; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends, including special friends, Rachel Hiscock and Ron and Jan Baas, a cousin that was like a daughter, Terri Culver, and her special four-legged feline friend, Annie. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy; sister, Janet (William) Skelly.
