Monte H. Rugg Obituary

Per his request, there will be no funeral service or visitation. A celebration of life barbecue will be held at a later date.

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to our father, grandfather, and friend, Monte H. Rugg, 77, who was taken from us too soon after an extended battle with cancer. A pillar of strength and wisdom, his absence leaves a massive void in our hearts.

Monte is survived by his wife of 58.5 years, Joyce; children, Jeff Rugg, Scott (Sherrie) Rugg, Chris (Shasta) Rugg, Melody Rugg, Sarah (Robert) Plane; his grandchildren, Ava, Angela, Aron, Brandon, Allison, Ashley, Zachary, Hunter, Jennifer, Jessica, Zack B. and Amber; numerous great-grandchildren, including his special namesake, Hudson Henry; his favorite cousins, John Dole and Vince Stozicki; and good friends, Steve Rutgers and Chuck Opalewski.

Monte was an outdoor enthusiast, often found tinkering outside from sunrise to sunset. He took pride in keeping his yard pristine. There wasn't a thing that he couldn't take apart, fix, and put back together. He also enjoyed stock car racing, hunting, and previously working on his deer farm. Monte's Sunday afternoon barbecue, especially his smoked ribs, were legendary. Monte leaves behind a life legacy of hard working values.

He will be deeply missed, but the memories created will be a comfort to all who knew and loved him.
