She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Frederick Helmers and Dorothy Helmers (Thwing); her children, Susan, Sarah and Stephen; her husband Harold; and her grandson Aaron. She was also cherished by her five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; extended family; and many, many dear friends.
Over the course of her life, she made her own decisions confidently and vigorously, refusing to be pushed around by any obstacles she faced (even surviving two bouts with COVID-19 in her last years).
