She was predeceased by: her parents, Jacob Mejeur and Elsien Mejeur (Schipper); her husband John VanderPloeg; and her siblings, Uko "Dutch" Mejeur, Rena Rehm, Jerry Mejeur, Trena Onderlinde, Henry Mejeur, John Mejeur and Wubbo "Chub" Mejeur.
She is survived by: her children, Kathie Hoekstra (Andrew), Randall VanderPloeg (Dawn) and Michael VanderPloeg (Kimberly); her grandchildren, Paul Hoekstra (Jessica), Joan Van Fossan (Jeff), April Homkes (Mark), Andrew Hoekstra (Terese), Stephen Herson (Clara), John Herson (TaLyn), Andrew VanderPloeg (Anna), John VanderPloeg (Jessica) and Kelsey McHenry (James); and her brother Ebo Mejeur.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Christian Schools, Gentiva Hospice or Grace Christian Reformed Church.
