He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Kangas and Aili Kangas (Ahola); and his sister Ruth Vandevelder. He is survived by: his wife Florence; his children, Christine Miars (Dean), Laureen Bulovic (Mark), Dan Kangas (Kathy), Judy Salters (Kurt) and Sam Kangas (Cathy); his grandchildren, Jennifer Schroeder, Sara Marx, Kathryn Jones, Thomas Cross (Erina), Hanna Kangas, Jake Kangas, Cora Kangas, Emma Kangas and Eli Kangas; his great grandchildren, Sarah Jones, Schylar Cross and Rosie Cross; his siblings, Edward Kangas (Nancy), Mildred Holmstrom (Charles), Joan Johnson, John Kangas (Clara) and David Kangas (Gayle); and his siblings-in-law, Helen Johnson and Roy Kemppainen.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mass City, Michigan.
