Frenchie will be laid to rest in a graveside service at Fort Custer National Cemetery, with the date and time to be announced shortly. Memorials may be made to ALS Foundation or the Disabled Veterans National Foundation, in c/o the funeral home.
Age 71, passed away into the arms of Jesus Tuesday morning, February 13, 2024, with his loving wife and family at his side. Frenchie was born in Kalamazoo on July 28, 1952, the son of Maurice and Ruth French. He graduated from Comstock High School in 1971. Frenchie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was employed at General Motors for over 30 years. In his retirement he worked for the United States Postal Service. On December 31, 2003, he married Janis Born who survives him. Frenchie will be remembered as a friendly, loving spouse, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He always had a smile on his face, and you knew that he loved you. He always had candy available to those who met him. Frenchie loved being outside to wave at those who drove by. He was a private man in his relationship with the Lord, but by the way he lived you know he loved the Lord and was loved by the Lord. Besides his wife, Frenchie is survived by his children, Hayley (Colin) Klett, Tracey (Matt) Klok, Daniel (Carrie) French; step-children, Brian (Marcy) Thomas, Chad (Chris) Thomas, Gregory (Shelly) Thomas, Michelle (Chuncey) Mapps; 16 grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; siblings, Paul (June) French, Steve (Linda) French, Kathy (Jim) Meints; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends including his four-legged friend, ChyChy. Frenchie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Huffstetter; brother, Mike (Shirley) French.
