It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Leigh Melvin of Kalamazoo, Michigan, born in Gary, Indiana, who passed away on January 27, 2021, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Coleman Melvin and Katherine Melvin Ransel (Turner). He is survived by: his grandson Carson; his wife Carol H. Melvin (Hart); his children, Jenny Rodriguez (John) and Jeremy Melvin; his stepchildren, Susan McDonald (Bob Sursely), Jeff Waldeck and Julie Johnson (Cass); his grandson Coleman; his stepgrandchildren, Melissa Jones (Lee) and David McDonald (Megan); his stepgreat-grandchildren, Alex, Ben and Adilynn Jones; and his brother Bill Melvin (Joyce). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
