With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Johanna Mejeur (Kalamazoo, Michigan), who passed away on January 9, 2021 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Staple and Mary Staple (Yonker); her siblings, Amelia VanderMeer (Roy) and Jake Staple (Ethel); and her brother-in-law Robert Kornoelje.
She is survived by: her spouse Uko "Dutch" Mejeur; her children, Janice Hommes (Edward) of Aurora, CO, David Mejeur (Kristine) of Kalamazoo and Joyce Hendricks (James) of Kalamazoo; her grandchildren, Kendal Hommes (Sonya), Timothy Mejeur, Kevin Holwerda-Hommes (Melanie), Curtis Mejeur (Nikol), Kyle Hommes (Anna), Emily Bareman (Mitchell) and Katie Hommes-Algera (Jeff); her sister Mary Kornoelje; and her siblings-in-law, Wubbo Mejeur (Alene), Ebo Mejeur, Margaret Vander Ploeg (John), Dorothy Mejeur and Frances Mejeur. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid-19 precautions, a private visitation and graveside service will be held for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Johanna's memory may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, Patient Assistance Fund at Park Village Pines, or Kalamazoo Christian School Association.
