He was predeceased by: his stepson Eric Blodgett; and his brother-in-law Mel Tolin. He is survived by: his friend James Stoops; his son James; his former spouse Kyle Powell; his wife Carol; his children, Jenni Stoops, Adam Stoops, Trisha Nelson (Jim) and Sawnteel; his grandchildren, Adriana, Maliah and Rachel; and his siblings, Bob Stoops (Denise), Jane Stoops and Susan Tolin.
