He is survived by: his wife Esther; his children, James Leroy Jr. (Cheryl), Anthony (Crystal), Angie Benn (Terry) and Eric (Teresa); his brother Duane (Juanita); his sisters-in-law, Bonnie Reid and Donna Richardson; and his in-laws, Leon and Gladys Dungey. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and close friends.
