He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Esman and Minnie Esman (Baker); his wife Carol M. Bell; and his siblings, Ruthanne Nufer, Harvey Esman and Duane Esman.

He is survived by: his sons, James L., Jr. Esman (Cindy) and Justin Esman (Tura); his brother John L. Esman (Gayle); his nephew John; and his niece Carrie Esman. He is also survived by three grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be given to Lighthouse Community Church.
