With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Martin Dunstan of Kalamazoo, Michigan, born in Ferndale, Michigan, who passed away on December 29, 2022 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Dunstan and Beatrice Dunstan (Freeman); his wife Ruth (Werner Lurges); his stepfather Ted Mielke; his sons, Neil and Brian Dunstan; his grandson Owen Butler; his stepson James Lurges; his siblings, John Mielke, Violet Dunstan, Isabelle West, Margaret Grabow, Frances Ritchie and Alvina Hull St. John; and his former wife Joy Shannon.
He is survived by: his brother Steven Dunstan; his daughters, Patricia Dunstan, Kathleen Butler, Nancy Peterson (Bob) and Beth Akemann (Victor); his stepchildren, Judy Evers, Patricia Hetrick (Wade), Jeff Lurges and Lisa Lodenstein (Rodney); and his daughter-in-law Debie Lurges. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries or the Salvation Army in his name.
