He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Larson and Helen Larson (Blank); and his brothers, Howard Larson and Harold Larson. He is survived by: his wife Barbara I. Patnode; his daughter Cynthia Moon (Robert); his grandchildren, Tamara Horobik, Jeffrey Klok and Kelsey Klok; and his great grandchildren, Trevor Horobik, Annalynn Horobik and Shawn Horobik.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society in memory of Helmer.
