Hank Bakhuyzen Obituary

Age 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday evening, April 26, 2023. Hank was born in Zaandam, The Netherlands, on November 10, 1936, the son of Simon and Henderijntje (Baantjer) Bakhuyzen. He was married to Mary Lou Bonselaar, who preceded him in death in 1992. On September 26, 1998, he married Martee Palmer who survives him. Hank worked for several years in wholesale food sales and had been a Supervisor for Jay's Potato Chips. In his retirement, Hank worked for Kalamazoo Christian Schools as a bus driver, as a courier for PNC Bank, and at Langeland Family Funeral Homes. He enjoyed playing golf and had been on a bowling league. His best friend was his dog, Taffy. He was a member of Immanuel Fellowship Church. Both at Immanuel and in previous churches he was a leader in the Cadets group. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Kim (David) LaPorte, Mark (Tonya) Bakhuyzen, Mike (Kele) Bakhuyzen; step-daughter, Linda Stermer; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Jay) McCloud; a great-granddaughter-in-law; nineteen grandchildren and spouses; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barb (Dave) Eshius and Judy (Rob) Moerman; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Besides his first wife, Hank was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Nick Bakhuyzen and Danny Bakhuyzen; a grandson, Carson; brothers, John Bakhuyzen, Dirk Bakhuyzen and Simon Bakhuyzen; sisters, Maria Hoogendyk and Alice Poelman.
