Gerald "Jerry" Ray Kelly, 78, of Kalamazoo, MI, was born in Buchanan, MI, on June 20, 1946, to Irma and John Kelly. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Jerry was a devoted husband to his wife of 57 years, Linda Kelly, and a dedicated family man, with surviving family members including his brothers, Harry Kelly and Kenneth (Donna) Kelly; his children, Stacy Peterson Kelly and John (Kristen) Kelly; his grandchildren, Jordan (Manda) Kelly and Corey (Gabby) VanKrimpen; and great-grandchildren, Avery and Colby VanKrimpen and Lilah and Judah Kelly.
A graduate of Buchanan High School, Jerry attended Western Michigan University for two years before being drafted into active duty in October 1968. He served until October 1970, then continued in the reserves for two years. Shortly after his military service, Jerry began a fulfilling career with Zimmer Orthopedic Sales, where he worked until retirement. In later years, he found enjoyment working as an asphalt estimator.
Jerry's life was made more vibrant by the company of his best friends, Tom and Sue, with Tom being like a brother to him. His brothers and close friendships added richness to his days, with many lively conversations filled with sports and politics.
Jerry will be remembered as a lifelong companion and best friend to his wife Linda, a dad who loved and always wanted the best for his children, and a grandpa with a tender heart who made his grandchildren smile and laugh. Known for his love of golf, sports, and his engaging discussions, Jerry cherished time with friends and family.
As a mouthpiece for Christ, Jerry shared his faith with those seeking understanding about Jesus. We find peace in knowing that Jerry, a steadfast believer in the grace we have received from Jesus Christ, now is with our Heavenly Father.
