George M. Nielsen Obituary

A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced shortly. George will be laid to rest with his parents at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wadsworth, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Fontana Chamber Arts, in c/o the funeral home.

Age 89, passed away early Thursday morning, September 14, 2023. George was born in Wadsworth, OH, on May 17, 1934, the son of Marius and Jimmie (Shelor) Nielsen. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University, George earned a Ph.D in mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1963, he joined the faculty of Kalamazoo College. While George was teaching mathematics for thirty-six years, he also served as the foreign student advisor for twenty years. He retired in 1999.
