It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Genevieve M. Northrop (Kalamazoo, Michigan), born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on January 9, 2022, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Coash and Evangeline Coash; and her great grandchild Maddox Isiah Burnham. She is survived by: her husband Charles E. Northrop; and her children, Mary Northrop, Thomas Northrop, Betteanne Burnham, Philip Northrop (Robbin), Patrick Northrop and Stephen Northrop (Karen). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four siblings; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Cathedral, the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, or the Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo, c/o the funeral home.

“I first met Mrs. Northrop about 60 years ago. I recall nice times at the home that she made with Mr. Northrop (and evening treats of ice cream!). She was a kind and generous person and a great pianist. It seems like just yesterday when she had her 90th birthday celebration at St. Tom's. A wonderful life lived and a lasting legacy she has left with her family and friends. Deepest condolences to Mary, Tom, Phil, Pat, Betty Ann, and Steve, to grandson Chris, and family.
