He was predeceased by: his parents, Emelio DeLeon and Guadalupe Saenz DeLeon; and his wife Rebecca Reyes. He is survived by: his children, Ernest DeLeon Jr., Guadalupe Little (Brian), Robert DeLeon (Mae), Mary Norma Rincones (Sam), David DeLeon (Vicki), John Gonzales and Joe Gonzales (Peggy); and his grandchildren, Kevin and Julia.
