Age 73, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 21, 2024. He was born in Midland, MI, on March 21, 1951. Eric was a kind, loving and dedicated grandson, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend. His smile, laughter and encouraging personality will be missed by all who loved him. Eric attended the First United Methodist Church in Midland where he served as acolyte, attended MYF, professed his faith and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Eric graduated from Midland High School, Class of 1969. Growing up he was involved with the Boy Scouts; earning the rank of Eagle Scout and made two trips to Philmont Boy Scout Camp. He went on to attend Michigan State University. After a time in the workforce, he entered the U.S. Army in 1981; received training in Defense Mapping and Topographic Instrumental Repair at Fort Belvoir, VA and was stationed at Ft. Ord, CA, from 1983 to 1988. He was honorably discharged as a Sargent from the 707th Material Office. Eric returned to make Southwest Michigan his home, began working and became involved in the community. He loved the Lord and was especially fond of the old church hymns. He loved music in general but was drawn towards rock and roll and had a lifetime subscription to Rolling Stones Magazine. He loved being outdoors and was at peace in nature. He loved being by a campfire, getting away, visiting many state parks to go camping and enjoyed taking trips down many rivers and lakes in his canoe. Above all Eric loved his family and his friends. His heart and his home was always open and he leaves wonderful memories behind. He is survived by four siblings, Gail Johnson, Patricia (Tom) Mahood, Beth (Carl) VonHinken and David (Pam) Yarrington; aunt, Char Supinger; uncle, Chuck House; cousins, Tim (AnnMarie) Supinger, Marcie (Scott) Rosin, Keith (Kellie) House, Ken (Laura) House; many loved nieces, nephews, beloved extended family and friends. He was also preceded in passing by his cherished grandparents, Cletus and Marybeth Supinger; parents, Donald Yarrington and Norah (Wilbur) Yarrington-Freer; aunt, Sally (House) and uncles, Roger Spielman, Chuck Supinger; several former classmates, neighbors and friends.
