Eppe J. Wolfis Obituary

In accordance with his wish cremation will take place and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, April 5th, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Haven Reformed Church, 5350 N. Sprinkle Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49004. Memorials may be made to the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital or the Ascension Borgess Therapy Dog Program, c/o the funeral home.

Age 65, passed away on March 17, 2024, at Ascension Borgess Hospital with family at his side. He was born in Bedum, Netherlands. Like many, he traveled to the United States and made Southwest Michigan his home. Eppe was kind, loving and had a great sense of humor which could lighten any occasion. His faith was founded in the Lord, and he loved those around him with all his heart. He worked hard to provide a happy home for his family and gave his all to provide for their needs. Eppe leaves behind many wonderful memories to cherish; his love for music and rock'n roll, spending a vacation at a cottage by the lake, sailing and boating, classic cars, and open road trips. Through it all he remembered what was important, faith and family. Eppe served as a trustee and police commissioner for the Village of Richland for many years. He was a longtime member of Haven Reformed Church, a loving husband and father, dedicated grandfather, loyal brother and uncle. He loved life and lived it to the fullest, and he will be missed by all who knew him. On August 20, 1983, he married Ann (Atkinson) Wolfis who survives. He is also survived by two children, Eppe A. Wolfis and Katie (Ryan) Boven; grandchildren, Case and Cora Boven; father, John Wolfis; sister, Amanda (Doug) Dubay; uncle, Hank (Gwen) Wolfis; Aunt Wilma Groenewold; nieces, nephews, great-niece and nephew; extended family and friends both in the United States and Netherlands; his loyal dogs, 'Oliver and Lilly'. He was preceded in passing by his mother, Stijntje Oosterhuis.
