Emily S. Hornev Obituary
In accordance with her wish cremation will take place and a memorial service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue Project 219 Peekstok Dr, Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
Emily S. (Pancoast) Hornev passed away at her home on April 10, 2023, a few days after celebrating her 87th birthday. She was born in Plainwell, MI, on April 1, 1936, the daughter of the late William E. and Beulah M. (Buskirk) Pancoast. Emily loved life, had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She carried a smile with her always and was a joy to know. In her youth, she enjoyed bowling and was a member of several leagues. Throughout life she stayed busy, was an avid reader, enjoyed crochet and loved to spend time outdoors in her garden. Emily had a place in her heart for animals and spent many parts of the day feeding birds, squirrels, chipmunks or any animal in need. Above all Emily loved her family and was a proud and involved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed. Emily is survived by four children, Scott (Debbie) Ellard, Pamela Alling, Susan Dunn, Toni (Brian) Moore; grandchildren, Afton (Aaron) DeVos, Hayley (Eric) Butler, Everett (Brandy) Ellard, Alli (Stefan) Ellard, Amy Alling, Rhett Alling, Lauren (Dan) Gipson, Madeline Moore, Marcus Moore, Benjamin (Nicole) Dussia; twelve and 3/4 great-grandchildren; many extended family and friends. She was also preceded in passing by a son, Martin Ellard; granddaughter, Amber Alling; siblings, John "Jack" Pancoast and William "Bill" Pancoast.
