Age 75, passed away at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer on July 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. David was a kind, humorous and genuine man who never met a person he didn't call a friend. He was born in Kalamazoo on March 8, 1948, the son of the late Henry and Ruth (Reames) Dieterman. After graduating from Galesburg High School, he attended Kellogg Community College and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served our country with honor. On August 9, 1969, he married the love of his life Doris (Griffin) Dieterman who survives. Together they made their home in Kalamazoo and began raising their two daughters. He worked hard for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. When not working David had a passion for fishing and being outdoors. He loved spending time in his garden and landscape which he kept pristine. While working outside, a wave and smile was his regular greeting to neighbors and friends whom he grew to love. He enjoyed sports and was a loyal Detroit Tigers and UofM fan. He also had a passion for farming and farm equipment. Above all David loved his children and his grandchildren. He was especially proud of their achievements and enjoyed watching them grow. David will be missed by all who loved him. He is also survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Patrick) Dixon, Sarah (Andy) Seiser; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Luke, Kate Dixon, Andrew, Claire, Charlotte, William Seiser; brother, Thomas (Patti) Dieterman; many in-laws who he held close to his heart; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was also preceded in passing by a sister, Beth Dieterman.
