He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Koets and Marie Koets (Dietrich). He is survived by: his wife Helen Brenda DePew; his sisters, Ann Dick and Ellen Hoard (Phillip); and his sister-in-law Marilyn Kay. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
