According to his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra or Centrica Rose Arbor Place, c/o the funeral home.
Age 90, passed away on April 16, 2024, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place with loved ones nearby. Dan was born in Arcadia, Louisiana on September 8, 1933, to Daniel Leslie Shehee Sr. and Ella Mae (Whitton) Shehee. He grew up in Arcadia and Ringgold, Louisiana, attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA, where he received a Bachelor and Master of Music Education. He taught vocal and general music for twelve years before becoming a group travel specialist, retiring after thirty-eight years in the travel industry. From 1955 to 1957 he served in the U.S. Army as a Medical Specialist, having received his medical training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He then served overseas at the 11th Evacuation Hospital in Sendai, Japan. He was honorably discharged having reached the rank of Sergeant. Dan enjoyed fishing, reading, theatre and music throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eva Mae "Muffet" (Shehee) Collinsworth; brother-in-law, Robert Kodish and sister-in-law, Susan DeLong. In 1983, he married Joyce (DeLong) Shehee who survives. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Kelly Ann (Sam) Silverman and Scott Gordon (Tammy) Conant; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don DeLong and Jera (Jim) Laidlaw.
