He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joe Koning and Frances Koning (DeKraker); his sons, Mike Koning and Chuck Koning; his stepchildren, Kathy Spaulding (Ray), Scott Appleyard (Jamie) and Sherri Gagnon (Jeff); and his siblings, Delores "Dee" Bushing (Carl), Merle Koning and Ronald Koning. He was also cherished by 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
