She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter Newhouse and Effie Newhouse (Esman); her husband John Alphenaar; her daughter Peggy Forssell; and her siblings, John, Charles, Vernon, Amos and Henrietta.
She is survived by: her sons, Stan Alphenaar (Julie) and Dan Alphenaar (Molly); her son-in-law Gunnar; her siblings, Louis Newhouse (Joann) and Elnora Alphenaar (Fred); and her parents-in-law, Harold Alphenaar (Joyce) and Jane Newhouse. She is also survived by grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian Schools or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
