He was predeceased by: his parents, William D. Steffler and Hazel Steffler (Marshall); and his siblings, Helen Green, Margaret Hammill and William Steffler.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann; his children, Joseph Steffler (Susie LeClear) and Ann Juzwiak (Paul); his grandchildren, Amy, David, Ryan, Andrew Steffler, Emily and Matthew Juzwiak; his great grandchildren, Joey, Phoebe, Leo, Kylah and Lincoln Steffler; and his brother Robert Steffler (Janer). He is also survived by several nieces & nephews.

“Dear Mary sorry to hear about Bernie I just wanted you to know that Bernie was a great role model for me being a young 20 yrs. old when he hired me to work for him I've got lots of memories over the years that I have and will continue to cherish. One of those was when I came over and helped Bernie put siding on the garage. Bernie needed to show me all the trophy's that Ann had won and talk about how great Joe was May God hold and kept you close Ron Lash”
