He was predeceased by: his parents, Arie Kiel and Alice Kiel (Hut); his wife Carol Kiel; his sons, Timothy Mark and Mark Duane; and his siblings, John Kiel, Don Kiel, Berdina Kloosterman, Anna Jean Lockhart, Henry Kiel, Trena VanderRoest, Irene Mejeur, Alfred Kiel and Ruth Sparks.
He is survived by: his sons, Steve Kiel (Joyce), Dennis Kiel (Janet), Randy Kiel (Jill) and Gary Kiel (Tammy); his grandchildren, Kevin Kiel (Holly), Amy Balint-Kaat (Dave), Cara Frame (Cole), Angela Mitchell (Adam), Andy Kiel (Julie), Jeff Kiel (Heather), Allison Ericks (Dave), Bethany Lehmer (Scott), Melissa Bierenga (Chris), Kristina Houser (Danny) and Michael Kiel; and his siblings, Elizabeth "Betty" Hoorn, Dorothy Barker and Robert Kiel. He is also survived by his 31 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the North Park Reformed Church (1316 Barney Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49004). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to North Park Reformed Church.
