A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in c/o the funeral home.
Age 82 of Kalamazoo, passed away on Friday morning, January 10, 2025. Arlene was born in Chicago, IL, on November 27, 1942, the daughter of Albert and Lorraine (Kleinschmidt) Schulmeister. She was married to Daniel G. Dost, Jr. who preceded her in death in 2011. Arlene was a great lover of animals. She and Dan enjoyed travelling. She worked for many years in the retail business, but mostly devoted her life to raising her children. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Arlene is survived by her children, Steven (Lori) Geeraerts, Cathy Geeraerts, Penny (Al) Gann, and Keith (Mary) Geeraerts; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Karen (Bernie) Salzinger; nieces and nephews; and many friends including her four-legged best friend, D.D. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dennis Schulmeister.
