Amy Jane Hanson passed away on Friday, January, 17th, 2025 surrounded by her family in a room filled with flowers from her friends. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. In her final weeks, she received many visitors who shared pictures, memories, and stories of their time with Amy.

Though these stories spanned many different chapters of her life – childhood, motherhood, teaching, friendship – several qualities shone through especially bright. The first was her unflinching kindness. A kindness she maintained through both good times and bad, and used to make every person who walked through her door feel welcomed. The second was her talent for spreading joy. Whether she was throwing New Year's Eve parties, listening to the Beatles with her friends, or playing cribbage with her husband, she was going to have a good time and so were the people around her. Finally, almost every single person who visited mentioned her chocolate chip cookies. If you've had them, you know why.

Amy was an avid reader with a love for mysteries and took every chance she had to share this passion with her children. Some of their fondest memories of Amy are the hours they spent listening to her read aloud Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, A Wrinkle In Time, and The Lord of The Rings. Amy was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and she always found ways for her and her family to give back to the church and the community.

Amy worked many years in the Parchment School District because she loved working with children, she got the opportunity to be close to her own kids, and she could spend time during her summers off at the beach – a place she truly loved. Amy became a grandmother six and a half years ago and leapt at every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren. She read to them, painted with them, and she even let them join her when she baked her famous chocolate chip cookies.

Amy is survived by her husband, Randy Hanson; her two children, Aubrey Norg and Mitchell Hanson; her Son-In-Law, Benjamin Norg; her two grandchildren, Malcom and Josephine Norg; and her three brothers, Tim, Matt, and Mark Smith.
