He was predeceased by: his parents, William Briggs and Maxine Briggs (Latta); and his brother Gerald Briggs. He is survived by: his wife Denise Briggs; his daughters, Nicole Mercer (David) of Tampa and Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Mannes (Erik) of Hamilton, Michigan; the mother of his children Judy Swope (Cooley); his son Travis Devlin (Christine) of Mattawan, Michigan; his grandchildren, Magen Mercer, Madeline Mercer, Meridith Mercer, Alex Mannes, Ryan Mannes, Sylvia Mannes and Anna Devlin; and his siblings, Sue Markillie, Thomas Briggs (Julie), Jeffrey Briggs (Connie) and Carol Gow (Rob).
