He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Lang and Pauline Pearl Van Vliet (Skulsky); and his son Rick Van Vliet. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Shoemaker; his sons, Doug Van Vliet (Kim) of Livonia and Joseph Van Vliet of Livonia; his stepchildren, Mark Gilpin (Deb) of Litchfield and Terri Gilpin of Litchfield; his grandchildren, Lauren McCurry and Jeremy Van Vliet; his stepgrandchildren, Laken Jimmerson and Courtney Munger; his daughter-in-law Debby Van Vliet of Garden City; his siblings-in-law, John Adams of Camden, Carl Adams (Charlene) of Osseo and Sharon Ladd of Hillsdale; and also Keith Porter. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
