He was predeceased by: his father Ira Smith; and his sister Lorrie Ann. He is survived by: his mother Harriet Smith (Phelps) of St. Augustine, FL; his wife Sue Smith (Dawson); his daughter Amber Moore (Craig) of Jonesville, MI; his siblings, Linda Gardner (Keith) of Coldwater, MI, James Smith (Carrie) of Smyrna, TN, David Smith (Cathy) of St. Augustine, FL and Carl Smith (Kat) of St. Augustine, FL; his sister-in-law Linda Kennedy of Fairhope, AL; and his grandsons, Wesley James and Dawson Andrew Lee.
In-lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Greater Hillsdale Humane Society.
