He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Smith and Lucille Smith (Laycock); his sister Diane Smith Hull of Laguna Woods, CA; and his brother-in-law James Ireland. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Ann "Annie" (LaPointe); his sisters, Claudia Ireland of Mason, Marilyn Adams (Chuck) of Mason and Nancy Fox of Irvine, CA; his grandchildren, Alysa Smith of Lansing, Zahlon Sampson of Lansing, LaQueel Sampson of Lansing and Kameyo Sampson of Lansing; his stepsons, William Peppel (Melissa Goodman) and Jeff Peppel (Robin Spring); his granddaughters, Danielle Hine (Charles) and Julie Panetta (Jacob); and his great grandchildren, Will, Harper and Grant Hine.
