She was predeceased by: her parents, Lambert Ekster and Catherine Ekster. She is survived by: her husband David Bixel; her children, Paul Bixel (Teri), Carolyn Garrett (Michael) and Kimberly Lauber (Steven); her grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Brian), Emily (Matt), Alex, Anna, Jack, Kiko, Lydia, Cara and Sam; her siblings, Peter Ekster (Char) and Cheryl Zylman (Rob); and her brother-in-law Dr. Gordon Bixel.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Sandy's remains are to be cremated and a private family service will take place.
