He was predeceased by: his parents, Jan Meulen and Grietje Vander Meulen; and his sister Aly Zwaan. He is survived by: his wife Grace; his children, Ellen Berry (Ken), John Vander Meulen (Mary Louise), Rev. Derrick Vander Meulen (Debbie) and Tim Vander Meulen; and his siblings, Tineke Dijkstra, Dini Zwerver (Koos), Margriet Jansen (Wim), Atze Vander Meulen (Stiena) and Piet Vander Meulen. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
