John Dekkinga Sr. Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Dekkinga Sr. of Jenison, Michigan, who passed away on April 7, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Carol; his son James Carl; and his brother Alvin Decker. He is survived by: his children, Cherie (Ken Bultman), David (Gloria Dekkinga), Dan Dekkinga (Patti Hoogerheide), Julie (Joe Raap), John Dekkinga Jr., Lori (Robert Hoorn) and Tim (Tricia Dekkinga); his sister Carolyn R. DeVries; and his siblings-in-law, Hazel Dornbush, Bruce, Marcia DeVries, Mary, Wilbur Huizing, Carolyn A. DeVries and Bonnie Beerens. He is also survived by 38 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the Fellowship Church (6610 36th Ave, Hudsonville, MI 49426). A memorial service was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
