He was predeceased by: his parents, George Christner and Ruth Christner; his daughter-in-law Veronica Christner; and his sister Shirley Wilcox. He is survived by: his sons, Joel Christner (Veronica) and Matthew Christner (Katie); his grandchildren, Aidan, Abbey, Alec, Gabriel and Shannon; and his sister Janice Baum. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
