He was predeceased by: his parents, Keith Vernon and Lorraine Merchant (Westerlund-Vernon); his brother Mike Vernon; his father-in-law Clarence Bare; and his sister-in-law Kathleen Burch.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Ann Bare; his son Joe Vernon (Sara) of Ithaca, MI; his grandchildren, Jayden, Delaney, Macy and Myla; his daughter April Alt (Philip) of Grand Rapids, MI; his grandchildren, Marcus, Owen and Nola; his daughter Bonnie Fowler (Corey) of Ithaca, MI; his grandchildren, Nellie and Dean; his sisters, Sue Crawford (Pat) of Ithaca, MI and Sally Bosley (Kevin Newberry) of Gaylord, MI; his sister-in-law Donna Vernon of Ithaca, MI; his mother-in-law Ilma Jean Bare of Ithaca, MI; his siblings-in-law, Milly Space (Mike) of Ithaca, MI and Arthur Burch of Ithaca, MI; and his aunts, Janet Hartner (Dave) of DeWitt, MI and Phyllis Buss of Arizona. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Smith Family Funeral Homes (1333 E Center St, Ithaca, MI 48847). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carol Vernon for designation to the Ithaca Schools Golf Program, PO Box 127, Ithaca, MI 48847.
