He is survived by: his wife Deanna Lynn Nurmela (Olgren); his children, Erica Nurmela (Amit Sahrawat) of Skokie, IL and Brian Nurmela (Tara Miller) of Wakefield; his grandchildren, Meera, Devin Sahrawat, Elise and Meredith Nurmela; his siblings, David Nurmela (Betsy) of Burnsville, MN, Catherine Nurmela (Sandra Strohm) of Grand Beach and James Nurmela (Beverly) of Denver, PA; and his sisters-in-law, Marsha Nurmela, Nancy Mattson (Miles), Wanda Dolkey (Gary), Anita Sandberg (Edward) and Lisa (Dave Vogt).
