He was predeceased by: his parents, Aili Toivonen (Tuomi) and Victor Toivonen; his wife Pauline Toivonen (Salson); his son Robert Dale Toivonen (Mary Ellen); and his brothers, Arnold, Richard, Neal and Donald Toivonen.
He is survived by: his daughter Kathy Waters (Robert); his grandchildren, Chris Salo (Karen), Pamela Pohlman (Dan), Rachel Collins (Todd) and Michael Toivonen (Ginger Pittman); and his great grandchildren, Gavin, Griffin Argall, Aili, Alex Toivonen and Tyler Quayle. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
