He was predeceased by: his mother Delores Cheverette (Kowalski); his grandson Jacob; and his uncle Andrew Besander. He is survived by: his father Lowell T. Besander, Sr. of Ishpeming; his daughters, Amanda N. Butler (John Bennett) of Ishpeming and Aimee Besander of Ishpeming; his brother Jimmie Besander (Donna) of Ishpeming; his half-brother Teddy Verville of California; his grandchildren, Jason and Amelia Schilling; his aunts, Jean Harmala, Jayne Harvey, Laurel LaFave Rosmergy and Jill LaFave Nelson; his former wife Peggy Besander; and his friend Betty Mitchell.
