He was predeceased by: his parents, William A. Mattila and Helvi E. Mattila (Lakanen); and his siblings, Helga Mattila, Agnes Warner, Ruth Puroll, Helen Feigl, Elma Laughlin, Martha Hill, Laura Sloney, Reino, Raymond, Sulo, William, George, Francis, Charles, David and Ronald Mattila.
He is survived by: his wife Judith; his sons, Don Mattila of Humboldt, Mark Mattila (Marisa) of Humboldt, Erik Mattila of Ypsilanti, MI, Jeremy Mattila of Chaska, MN and Eli Mattila (Amanda) of Ypsilanti, MI; his stepchildren, Korinna Rafferty (Mike), Kevin VandyBogurt (Michelle) and Nicholas VandyBogurt (Amy) of Tekonsha, MI; and his brother Eli Mattila (Shirlee) of Silverdale, WA. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
