He was predeceased by: his mother Carmen Morris; and his grandparents, Achillies and Jeanne Munari. He is survived by: his wife Melissa K. Welch; his son Michael J. Kopnick; his stepdaughters, Tricia Cheevers and Bobbi Hodgson-Jeffers; his father Frank Kopnick (Jackie); his brothers, James Kopnick (Karen), Nelson Morris (Teresa) and Guy (Amanda); his stepsister Missy Harju (Gene); and his parents-in-law, Mary Kay Welch and Gary Welch (Karen). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and countless friends.
