He was predeceased by: his parents, John DeGroot and Donna DeGroot (Montague). He is survived by: his son John DeGroot (Kaila); his grandsons, Cohen and Easton DeGroot; and his sisters, Patty Bartlett (Bill) and Carol Elder (Larry).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's name to: St. Ann's Catholic Church in Baldwin or the Area Agency on Aging.
