He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Kolenda and Luella Kolenda (Kozminski). He is survived by: his children, Sue Wakeland (Bill) of Cedar Springs, Mary Smallegan (Kurt) of Fennville, Dawn Jacobsen (Kirk) of Sparta and Mark Kolenda of Ludington; his sister Diane Naylor; and his stepchildren, Kirk Engler and Cynthia Squint (Tony). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
