She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Algot Nelson and Thyra Augusta Johnson; her husband Mert; her stepmother Nora (Brewer); and her siblings, Joan M. Ghiotto, Marjorie Nelson and Carl Nelson.
She is survived by: her children, Kathleen Merrow of Portland, OR, Patricia Ann Hautala (Michael) of Ramsay, MI, Barbara Niemi (Kurt) of Marquette, MI, Kim Johnson (Gerald) of Waukesha, WI and Craig Belongie of Marquette, MI.. She is also survived by extended family twenty-four children including grandchildren.
