He was predeceased by: his parents, Mark Swanson and Florence Swanson (Bouffiou); his brother Richard Swanson; his son-in-law Steve Wedger; and his siblings-in-law, Roger Rochon and Vera Swanson.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Stohl; his children, Allan Swanson (Carrie), Paula Wedger, Jean Meyer (Dale) and Nancy Ekvall (Doug); his siblings, Arthur Swanson (Darlene) and Lois Rochon; his grandchildren, Mike Meyer, Ben Swanson (Jacquelyn), Jacob Swanson (Kala), Ashley Wedger, Zachary and Lauren Ekvall; and his great grandchildren, Emily and Lucas Swanson. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

He was very proud of the many jewelry boxes he donated for charity.
