He was predeceased by: his parent Clay Fortner; and his brothers, Gene Fortner of Chicago and John "Jock" Fortner of Iron Mountain. He is survived by: his parent Elsie Fortner (Nelson); his wife Karen; his children, Kimberly Jo Mariucci (Tino), Kirk Fortner (Laura), Derek Fortner (Kristin) and Kingsford; his great grandchildren, Georgia, Wesley, Ben Winkel and Manistique; and his pet Boomer.
