He is survived by: his wife Lyla Jean Wilmer; his son Daniel Wilmer; his nephew David Smielewski; his siblings, Art Wilmer of Houston, Bill Wilmer (Verna) of Beloit, WI and Kristine Siebert (Bob); his children, Jean DeDie (Dave Glynn) of Madison, Denise Edwards (Mark) of Iron Mountain and Jeffrey Wilmer of Norway; his grandchildren, Paula Paplham, Charlene Norberg (Shane), Joshua Dorman (Melissa), Jeremy Dorman, Nicole Dorman, Jonah Dorman, Angela Reed (Joshua), Crystal Bennett and Dawn Sabey (Curt); his great grandchildren, Dawson, Shane Jr., Lauren, Trei, Charlie, Ronan, Chloe, Alaina, Auralia, Reihannen, Izayah, Cecelia, Addalynn, Bentley, Delilah, Lexi and Vivian; and his close friends, Christine Allen and Bob Goodreau.
